What data this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. We do not sell personal data and we never ask for identity documents, payment details or a National Insurance number.

This policy explains what personal data Marketing Donut collects when you use marketingdonut.co.uk, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it. It is written to meet the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The short version: we do not sell personal data, we do not ask for identity documents or payment details, and the only data we hold about most visitors is anonymous analytics.

Who we are

Marketing Donut is the data controller for this website. We operate marketingdonut.co.uk as a casino comparison service. We are not a gambling operator, we do not hold customer accounts, and we do not process deposits or withdrawals.

What we collect

Information you give us

If you email us, we hold your address and whatever you write for as long as it takes to deal with the matter, plus a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up.

If you subscribe to updates, we hold the email address you provide until you unsubscribe. Every message includes an unsubscribe link.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our server and analytics record technical information when you visit:

• IP address, truncated or anonymised where our analytics supports it

• Browser type and version, operating system and device type

• Pages viewed, time on page, and the page or search that brought you here

• Approximate location derived from IP, at country or region level only

What we never collect

We do not ask for and will never collect your name, date of birth, home address, payment details, identity documents or National Insurance number. No legitimate part of this website will request any of them. If something on a page claiming to be us asks for these, it is not us.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them in three categories:

• Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function and to remember your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off.

• Analytics. Help us understand which pages are read and where readers arrive from, in aggregate. Set only with your consent.

• Affiliate tracking. When you follow a link to a gambling operator, a cookie may record that the referral came from this site so any commission is attributed correctly. It records the referral, not what you do once you arrive.

You can refuse or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time, and withdraw consent through our cookie banner. Aside from the strictly necessary ones, the site works without them.

How we make money, and what that means for your data

We have commercial relationships with some of the operators listed on this site. If you open an account through a link here, we may receive a commission from that operator. It costs you nothing.

What this means in data terms is narrow but worth stating plainly. When you click a marked link, the affiliate network is told that a referral came from us, along with technical information such as your IP address and browser. If you later register with that operator, the network tells us that a registration occurred so the commission can be paid. We are not told who you are. We do not receive your name, your account details, your deposits, your losses or your gambling activity.

Why we process your data, and on what basis

• To operate and secure the website — legitimate interests. Without this the site cannot be served or protected from abuse.

• To understand how the site is used — consent, given through the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time.

• To attribute affiliate referrals — consent, on the same basis.

• To answer your email — legitimate interests, namely responding to someone who has contacted us.

• To send updates you asked for — consent, withdrawable through any message.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. Data is handled by a limited set of processors acting on our instructions:

• Our hosting provider, which processes server logs

• Our analytics provider

• Affiliate networks, which receive referral data when you follow a marked link

• Our email provider, if you have subscribed to updates

We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

The operators you visit from this site

This section matters more than most of this policy, so please read it.

When you follow a link to a gambling operator you leave marketingdonut.co.uk and enter a site we do not control and are not responsible for.

Many of the operators compared here are licensed outside the United Kingdom. Their data protection obligations are not the same as ours and are frequently not covered by UK GDPR at all. What they collect, how long they keep it, who they share it with and what rights you have are governed by their privacy policy, not this one. That policy is worth reading before you register, not after.

The same applies to any account you open. Verification documents, payment details and gambling history are held by the operator. We have no access to them, no ability to retrieve them, and no ability to have them deleted on your behalf.

How long we keep it

• Email correspondence — for as long as needed to deal with the matter, then a reasonable period afterwards

• Subscription data — until you unsubscribe

• Analytics data — in aggregated form, for the retention period set by our analytics provider

• Server logs — a short rolling window for security and diagnostics

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Be told what personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy

• Have inaccurate data corrected

• Have data erased, where we have no continuing reason to hold it

• Restrict or object to processing carried out on legitimate interests

• Receive your data in a portable format

• Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out

To exercise any of these, email privacy@marketingdonut.co.uk . We respond within one month, as the law requires. There is no charge unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

This site is intended for adults aged 18 or over and its subject matter is not suitable for anyone younger. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We keep our software patched and limit access to any personal data we hold to those who need it. No website can promise perfect security, but we do not hold the kind of data that would make us a worthwhile target — no payment details, no identity documents, no account credentials.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be flagged on the site.
