Which small businesses conduct market research?

Hey Folks,

I want to know how small businesses typically do market research. I am new to the field, so my questions might seem basic to you, but I found no answers online:

• What percentage of SMBs conduct primary market research?
• Which types of businesses benefit the most from primary market research?

Note that a ballpark estimate is enough - I don't need exact numbers.
