About the expert

Let me do your advertising, branding and direct marketing. Around 1985, clenching a hot graphic gesign degree in my sweaty palm, I first learned the ropes at London-based companies Design House and Michael Peters. However, when the recession of the early 90s hit, I was lucky enough to be dragged from the streets to work in the posh part of South Kensington with brand consultancy CGI.

It was then that a funny little object called the Mac started to appear on people’s desks. All designers had to become experts in things like typesetting and retouching photographs. Luckily, there was one thing that computers couldn’t do: think! Brochures and logos still needed designing, ads and direct mail still needed concepts to get them noticed. Brains and unconventional thoughts were still in demand. Hopefully this will never change.

In 2001, I met Andrew at InTouch. Andrew did 'marketing' and used strange phrases such as 'DM' and 'ROI'. I liked it, because I enjoyed combining words and pictures to sell stuff for clients, some of which can be seen at www.intouchmarketing.co.uk.
