Perhaps it's time to pimp your PowerPoint?

November 06, 2009 by Mark Sinclair

What do you think?  Could some of these techniques help you add life your PowerPoint game?

I love how he says "simple bit of mental arithmetic. If you have 24 slides and you spend 10 mins on the first one, they're thinking 'that's 240 more minutes I've got'".
No it isn't. It's 230 more minutes.

I agree a lot that Steve Jobs does an excellent job on his presentations.
There's barely any text used at all.
He also makes them more interesting by not using Powerpoint to start with. Animated 3d graphs and other slick features in Apple's "Keynote" package enhance even the dullest of presentations.

Nice catch, Ben. The arithmetic may be out by just over 4.1%, but the key point is still spot on.

The fact that Steve Jobs uses Keynote is interesting. Yes, it certainly helps produce better transitions. But even if those people limited to PowerPoint followed 20% of Steve's lead, the (presenting) world would be a far, far better place.
